Etymologie
Pseudo- (= falsch), d.h., obwohl diese Grundel dem nahe verwandten Ctenogobius fasciatus ähnelt, ist ein solches Aussehen falsch. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westlicher Atlantik: Florida (U.S.A.), Belize, südlich bis Trinidad und Surinam, einschließlich Karibisches Meer.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 9.7.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Diese im Flachwasser lebende oligohaline Art ist durch Verschmutzung und Lebensraumverlust aufgrund von Versalzung und Küstenerschließung bedroht. In Florida hat diese Art ihren Lebensraum durch Ausbaggern und Entfernen von Grasflächen verloren. Sie wird im Südosten der USA als "gefährdet" eingestuft.
