Etymologie
Denticulata (= kleinzahnig), bezieht sich auf die schmaleren, weniger schrägen Zähne im Vergleich zu anderen Serrasalmiden, die Cuvier untersucht hatte. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Einzugsgebiet des Orinoco, Flüsse des nördlichen und östlichen Guayana-Schildes; Nebenflüsse des unteren Amazonas (Brasilien, Kolumbien, Bolivien, Französisch-Guayana, Guyana, Surinam und Venezuela).
