Etymologie
Zwar wurde die Etymologie in der Erstbeschreibung erklärt, bleibt aber unklar: demnach ein bolivianischer Name "angewendet auf die lokal bekannte Piranha "suave" und verweist auf die taxonomische Verwechslung mit dieser Art zu Beginn der Feldarbeit während der vorliegenden Studie".
