Etymologie
Kombiniert aus skylion, griechisch für Hundshai oder kleiner Hai, wahrscheinlich von skyllo (= zu reißen oder zu zerfleischen); rhine (= Raspel), ein alter Name für Haie, der auf ihre raspelartige Haut anspielt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
