Etymologie

Scomber ( von skombros, altgriechischer Name für Thunfisch oder Makrele), hier bezogen auf die Gattung Scomber; [h]omorus, an dieselben Grenzen stoßend oder benachbart, d.h. "die Ähnlichkeiten bezeichnend, die ihn" mit Scomber verbinden. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
