Typusfundort: Mosambik-Kanal, östlich der Insel Bazaruto, 21°18'S, 36°18'E (Karte), Südafrika, westlicher Indischer Ozean, Anton Bruun Station 399C, Tiefe 825-875 Faden.
Etymologie
Ori ist das Akronym des Ozeanographischen Forschungsinstituts (Durban, Südafrika), unter dessen Schirmherrschaft diese Art gesammelt und beschrieben wurde. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westlicher Indischer Ozean: vor der Küste Mosambiks und Madagaskars.

Status: Stand 15.1.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: In den Tiefen, in denen diese Art lebt, findet derzeit keine Fischerei statt. Es sind keine weiteren Bedrohungen bekannt.
