Etymologie
Von ater (= schwarz); ceps (= Kopf), bezogen auf dunkelbraunen Kopf. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Thailand: Chao Phraya Becken.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 20.02.2019: DD Data Deficient (ungenügende Datengrundlage)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Die anthropogene Veränderung der Flussmorphologie beeinflusst diese Art, indem der schnelle Wasserlauf reduziert oder unterbrochen wird. In der Region werden Abholzung, Entwaldung und Landwirtschaft durchgeführt, was sich auf die Gewässer auswirkt (M. Kottelat pers. Comm. 2011). Der Sirikit-Stausee nimmt einen Teil des Verbreitungsgebietes ein.
