Typusfundort: Poitete river, Kolombangara Island [= Kolobangara], Solomonen.
Etymologie
Der Name für die Spezies ist Tiola gewidmet, dem Schutzgeist der Kriegskanus in den Legenden des Kanubaus und ihrer Bugfiguren auf den Solomonen.
Verbreitung
Schismatogobius tiola ist nur von den Solomonen bekannt.
