Typusfundort: Griechenland: die Bäche Thiamos, Lourou, Acheron und Evinos; Trichonissee, das Gebiet um Kalamictisa; Korfu.
Etymologie
Von pleuro- (= Seite); bi (= zwei); punctatus (= gepunktet), bezieht sich auf eine "doppelte melanistische oder mit Melanophoren-gepunktete Linie" (Übersetzung) entlang der Seiten. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Begrenzt auf das westliche Griechenland, vom Peloponnes (Pinios River) bis Epirus.

Status: Stand 24.05.2019:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
