Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des verstorbenen Sidney F. Cook (1953-1997), Fischereibiologe, ein „Pionier im Hai-Schutz“, der zum Zeitpunkt der Probenaufsammlung an Untersuchungen von Knorpelfischen in Südostasien teilnahm [der Name wurde im Buch Rays of the World von 2016, falsch angegeben als Rhynchobatus compagnoi Last & Kyne, 2016].
