Etymologie
Pulcher (= schön), unter Bezugnahme auf das, was Boulenger anscheinend als attraktives Farbmuster bezeichnete, bestehend aus einem dunkelbraunen Band, das den Körper umkreist, Rücken- und Schwanzflossen mit weißen Ecken und zwei großen weißlichen Flecken auf dem Schwanz. Verbreitung
Rhyacoglanis pulcher kommt im ecuadorianischen Amazonas vor. Obwohl Mees (1974) darauf hinweist, dass R. pulcher auch im río Popoi im oberen río Beni in Bolivien, im río Marañón in Peru und bei Sangadina, im Mato Grosso, Brasilien, vorkommt, konnten Shibatta & Vari (2017) die Exemplare aus den beiden letzten Lokalitäten nicht untersuchen und damit ihre Identität nicht feststellen. Letztere Lokalität stellt insbesondere eine ungewöhnlich große Erweiterung des Vorkommensgebietes dar und ist damit sehr fragwürdig. Die río Beni-Exemplare, die von Mees (1974) berichtet wurden, sind eher Rhyacoglanis epiblepsis.
