Typusfundort: Brasilien, Amazonas, Rio Tiquié Einzug, Igarapé Açaí in der Nähe des Dorfes São Pedro, ca. 00°16’N, 69°58’W [ (Karte)].
Etymologie
Parotocinclus yaka ist nach Yaka benannt, der gebräuchliche Name für Loricariide ohne Loricariine in beiden Sprachen der Tukano- und der Tuyuka-Volksgruppe des oberen Rio Tiquié.
Verbreitung
Parotocinclus yaka ist derzeit nur von drei Stellen im Nordwesten des brasilianischen Bundesstaates Amazonas nahe der Grenze zum Departement Vaupés in Kolumbien bekannt. Bei allen drei Sammelstellen handelt es sich um relativ große Waldbäche mit klarem bis leicht dunklem Wasser, Nebenflüssen des Rio Tiquié, die groß genug sind, um direktes Sonnenlicht durchdringen zu lassen. Alle Exemplare von Parotocinclus yaka wurden gesammelt, während sie in Gebieten mit mäßiger Strömung an Ästen umgefallener Bäume befestigt waren.
