Typusfundort: Mündung eines kleinen Baches, der in die Pelican Bay fließt, Arm des oberen Klamath Lake, Klamath County, Oregon, USA.
Etymologie
Benannt nach dem Klamath-Becken, zu dem die Typuslokalität gehört.
Verbreitung
USA: im gesamten Klamath-Becken in Oregon und Kalifornien, einschließlich der Flüsse Klamath und Trinity und ihrer Nebenflüsse, sowie im Rogue River im Norden. Sie ist auch im oberen Klamath-Becken, einschließlich des Upper Klamath Lake, weit verbreitet. Die Speckled Dace im Eel River, südlich des Klamath-Beckens, ist eine eingeführte Population von R. k. klamathensis.
