Typusfundort: Río Itiyuro, 500 Meter unterhalb des Itiyuro-Damms, Route 34 zwischen Estación Pocitos und Aguaray, 22°07'S, 63°11'W [ (Karte)], Provinz Salta, Argentinien.
Etymologie
Benannt nach den Aymara im Nordwesten Argentiniens, wo dieser Wels vorkommt.
Verbreitung
Südamerika: Itiyuro-Flussbecken, Argentinien.
