Etymologie
Rhabdos (= Rute oder Stock (d.h. Streifen)), bezieht sich auf die gelbe Bauchbinde der Typusart Diplodus auriventris (= Rhabdosargus sarba); sargos (= altgriechischer Name für einen spariden Fisch), der mindestens auf Aristoteles zurückgeht, sich hier aber wahrscheinlich auf Sargus (= Diplodus) bezieht.
