Typusfundort: Bucht von El Himeira, Ägypten, Golf von Aqaba, Rotes Meer, 21–27 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Maris (= Meer); ruber (= rot), benannt nach der Typuslokalität, dem Roten Meer.
Verbreitung
Rotes Meer: vom Golf von Aqaba im nördlichen Roten Meer bis zum zentralen Roten Meer vor der Küste Saudi-Arabiens.
