Etymologie

Squama (= Schuppe); pinna (= Flosse), bezieht sich auf Bauchflossen, die mit dicker schuppiger Haut bedeckt sind. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Indo-Westpazifik: Ostafrika und Madagaskar östlich bis Neukaledonien, südlich bis Nordaustralien.
