Etymologie
Hoplites (= bewaffnet (mit einer Waffe)), Anspielung nicht erklärt, bezieht sich vielleicht auf schwertähnliche knöcherne Rostralverlängerungen auf jeder Seite des Schnauzenendes und/oder "stärkere Bewaffnung" (Stacheln) am Kopf im Vergleich zu Dixiphistes und Dixiphistops (beide Junior-Synonyme von Parapterygotrigla). Verbreitung
Östlicher Indischer Ozean bis in den Westpazifik: Philippinen, Arafura-See südwärts bis Rowley Shoals, Westaustralischer Schelf.
