Etymologie

Von hydro (= Wasser); lagos (= Hase), d. h. "Wasserkaninchen", bezieht sich wahrscheinlich auf ihre drei Zahnplattenpaare, die wie die Schneidezähne eines Kaninchens aus dem Maul herausragen. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
