Etymologie

Von protos (= zuerst); myzon (= um zu saugen), widerspiegelt vermutlich die Hypothese von Hora, dass sich Protomyzon whiteheadi möglicherweise aus Nemacheilus-ähnlichen Vorfahren unter dem Einfluss schneller Strömungen entwickelt hat. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
