Etymologie

Gracilis (= schlank), vermutlich bezogen auf zusammengedrückten Kopf, Körper und Schwanz, letzterer zu einem langen Faden geformt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Verbreitung

Südlicher Indischer Ozean und Westpazifik: Korallenmeer vor Raine Island, Queensland, Australien; in der Nähe von Madang, Papua-Neuguinea; Tasmansee und vor Ostafrika; in Tiefen von 2560 bis 4810 m, vor der Küste in etwa 100 bis 700 km Entfernung vom Schelfbruch.
