Etymologie
Carinata (= gekielt), bezieht sich auf prädorsale Schuppen in der Mittellinie, die verdickt und gerippt sind und einen Kiel bilden. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Rotes Meer, Golf von Suez und Golf von Aqaba, einschließlich des Suezkanals und der Küste des Nildeltas, und im östlichen Mittelmeer, nördlich bis zur türkischen Küste.
