Typusfundort: Río Agua Caliente, 2-3 Kilometer oberhalb der südwestlichen Ecke des Maracaibo-Sees, Venezuela, Tiefe 15 Fuß.
Etymologie
Von copro- (= Mist); phagus (= fressen), ein "Allesfresser, der jeden Müll frißt, den er bekommen kann". (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Becken des Maracaibo-Sees, Kolumbien und Venezuela.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 05.08.2017: LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: In Gebieten, die ungestört sind, ist sie eine der häufigsten Arten und kann sogar Störungen überleben.
