Etymologie

Para- (= nahe), bezieht sich auf die Ähnlichkeit mit Ailia (jetzt in Ailiidae), von der sie sich durch das Fehlen von Vomerinzähnen und Fettflosse unterscheidet. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
