Etymologie
Micro- (= klein); nema (= Faden), bezieht sich auf kurze Unterkieferbarteln, die das Auge nicht oder kaum erreichen. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
In den Flüssen Mekong- und Hue, Vietnam, Laos, Kambodscha, Thailand; Malaya (Malaysia), Sumatra und Java (Indonesien), Borneo.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 27.06.2023:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es wird angenommen, dass diese Art in Teilen ihres Verbreitungsgebiets überfischt ist. Die Verschmutzung und der Abfluss von Agrochemikalien haben die Bestände dieser Fischart im Einzugsgebiet des Chao Phraya-Flusses dezimiert. Der Bau von Staudämmen, insbesondere im oberen Mekong, kann sich negativ auf die Wanderungen dieser Art auswirken. Die Abholzung von Wäldern für die Holzgewinnung und die Landwirtschaft findet im Verbreitungsgebiet statt, und es wird erwartet, dass dies Auswirkungen auf die aquatische Umwelt hat. Die Auswirkungen dieser Bedrohungen auf den Populationsstatus dieser Art wurden jedoch nicht bewertet.
