Typusfundort: Marouini River, vicinity of Antecume Pata, Wayana Amerindian fisherman, French Guiana.
Etymologie
Genannt koko, ein Wayana amerindianischer Name, der Nacht bedeutet, in Bezug auf die dunkle Färbung der Art, und in Anspielung auf den ähnlich gefärbten genannten Panaqolus nocturnus.

Antecume Pata in upper Maroni River basin, French Guiana.
