Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des Fischereiwissenschaftlers Frank Talbot (* 1930), Südafrikanisches Museum, der Smith viele „wertvolle“ Exemplare schickte, einschließlich des Typus dieser Art, den er möglicherweise durch „Sprengung? von Korallenriffen“ erhalten hat (Fragezeichen in Smiths Text). Rotes Meer, Indo-West-Pazifik: Ostafrika östlich bis zu den Gesellschaftsinseln, nördlich bis Taiwan, südlich bis Westaustralien, Queensland (Australien) und Chesterfield-Inseln (Neukaledonien).
