Etymologie

Benannt zu Ehren des Anglers Henry Sullivan Thomas (1833-?), Madras Civil Service, der Day zwei Exemplare zur Verfügung stellte (Days Schreibweise von "thomassi" mit einem zusätzlichen "s" scheint beabsichtigt zu sein, da er den Namen für zwei andere Fische, Hypselobarbus thomassi [Cyprinidae] und Parambassis thomassi [Ambassidae], so geschrieben hat).
