Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des Ichthyologen Carl H. Eigenmann (1863-1927), Autor einer "ausgezeichneten" Übersicht (1890) über die südamerikanischen Welse.
Verbreitung
Argentinien, Brasilien, Bolivien und Paraguay: oberes Einzugsgebiet des Paraguay und ein Fundort im Rio Paraná.
