Etymologie
Punctatus (= gefleckt), bezogen auf drei längs verlaufende Reihen von schwarzblauen Punkten oder kleinen Flecken auf dem rotgrauen Körper. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indopazifik: Persischer Golf bis nach Fidschi und im Norden nach Japan, südlich bis zum Exmouth Gulf (Westaustralien) und südlich von Queensland (Australien); Mittelmeer (Einwanderer aus dem Roten Meer über den Suez Kanal). Bekannt aus der Delagoa Bay, Mosambik und an der afrikanischen Küste. Westatlantik: Eingeschleppt nach Trinidad und im Panama Kanal in der Nähe des Atlantiks. Fotos von Brasilien, São Marcos Strand, São Luís, Maranhão.
