Etymologie
Propinquus (= nahe), bezieht sich vermutlich auf die Ähnlichkeit und / oder enge Beziehung zu Nezumia holocentra, beschrieben in derselben Veröffentlichung. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indopazifik: vor Mosambik, Kyushu-Palau Kamm(?) und Hawaii. Südostpazifik: Sala y Gomez Ridge.
