Etymologie
Nanus (= Zwerg); Acara (= eine "eng verwandte" Gattung), bezieht sich auf die geringe Größe von Nannacara anomala, die mit 55 und 57 mm beschrieben wird, d. h. eine Zwerg-Acara. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
