Etymologie
Etymologie nicht erklärt (keine schriftliche Beschreibung); Da Mosis die lateinische Schreibweise von Moses ist, könnte dies eine Anspielung auf die Typuslokalität des Hais im Roten Meer sein?. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Indischer Ozean: Rotes Meer und Ostafrika, einschließlich dem Persischen Golf bis zu den Malediven, Indien und Sri Lanka.
