Typusfundort: 12 Meilen westlich von Iquique, Provinz Tarapacà, Chile [südöstlicher Pazifik].
Etymologie
Benannt nach der Typuslokalität, der Provinz Tarapacà, Chile.
Verbreitung
Circumtropical, wurde von verstreuten Fundorten gemeldet: Westatlantik: vor Venezuela; Ostatlantik: Elfenbeinküste, Kapverdische Inseln und Südafrika; Indischer Ozean: nordwestliches Rotes Meer und Indien; Westpazifik: Japan, Taiwan und wahrscheinlich das tropische Australien; Ostpazifik: Golf von Kalifornien und Chile.
