Typusfundort: Vor der Küste von Ganjam, 8 Meilen östlich-südöstlich von Kalingapatnam Light, Indien [Bundesstaat Orissa, Indien, Golf von Bengalen, östlicher Indischer Ozean], Forschungsstation 90, Tiefe 28-30 Faden.

Verbreitung
Indo-West Pazifik: Durban, Südafrika und weiter nördlich; auch im Roten Meer, Arabisches Meer und östlich zum Golf von Thailand. Als wahrscheinlich auf den Seychellen berichtet, aber Randall & van Egmond, 1994 glauben anders.
