Typen
Holotypus: UF 175766 [ex UT 44.2312].

Typusfundort: Cahaba River, am U. S. Highway 80, an der Brücke 16 km westlich von Selma, Dallas Co., Alabama.
Etymologie
Benannt nach dem verstorbenen Dr. Herbert T. Boschung, Emeritus Professor für Biologie an der Universität von Alabama, für seine, über die Jahre, vielen Beiträge zur südöstlichen Ichthyologie der USA im Allgemeinen und den Staat Alabama im Besonderen, einschließlich der Co-Autorenschaft der Fishes of Alabama (Boschung & Mayden, 2004).

USA: Unteres Becken des Mobile, Alabama und nordöstliches Mississippi Becken.
