Typusfundort: Teich neben dem Rio da Figueira, einem Nebenfluss des Rio Morato, im "Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural Salto Morato", 25°16'S, 48°12'W (Karte), Gemeinde Guaraqueçaba, Bundesstaat Paraná, Brasilien.

Etymologie

Benannt zu Ehren der Fundação O Boticário de Proteção à Natureza (FBPN), die den Schutz des Tarimba-Höhlensystems (Bundesstaat Goiás, Brasilien) finanziell unterstützt hat, eines von zwei Höhlensystemen, in denen dieser Wels bekanntermaßen vorkommt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Brasilien: Einzugsgebiete der Flüsse Da Figueira und Guaraqueçaba, südöstlich der Mata Atlantica (Bundesstaat Paraná).
