Etymologie
Semi- (= halb); cinctus (= Band oder Gürtel), bezieht sich auf unregelmäßige kleine, schwarze Streifen oder Flecken auf der oberen Körperhälfte. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indo-Westpazifik: Sri Lanka östlich bis zu den Marshallinseln und Fidschi, nördlich bis zu den Ryukyu-Inseln (Japan), südlich bis Nordaustralien.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 10.08.2021:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Diese Art ist in ihrem gesamten Verbreitungsgebiet Bestandteil der Fischerei, für die Gesamtpopulation ist derzeit jedoch keine große Bedrohung feststellbar.
