Typusfundort: Arakawa-Fluss, etwa 500 m von der Flussmündung, Insel Ishigaki, Ryukyu-Inseln, Präfektur Okinawa, Japan, 24°20'N, 124°15'E (Karte).
Etymologie
Armatus (= bewaffnet oder gepanzert), bezieht sich auf ihren Körper, der „mit gegabelten Schuppen gepanzert“ ist. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Ryukyu-Archipel bis Taiwan [amphidrom].
