Etymologie
Vorgeschlagen als Untergattung von Terapon mit leios (= glatt) und omos (fälschlicherweise opos geschrieben) (= Schulter), was sich auf die Zacken des Suprascapular (eigentlich des Posttemporal) bezieht, dort ist diese mit Haut und Schuppen bedeckt (ein Merkmal, das bei vielen anderen Terapontiden-Gattungen zu finden ist).
