Etymologie
Der spezifische lateinische Name torrentis bedeutet "der Ströme" oder "des fließendes Wasser".
Verbreitung
Lefua torrentis ist im Westen Japans, rund um die Seto Binnensee, in den Präfekturen von Okayama bis Wakayama, auf Honshu, und in den Präfekturen Ehime bis Tokushima auf Shikoku, einschließlich der Inslen Awaji und Shodoshima. Lefua torrentis ist auch in einigen Flüssen entlang der Küste des Japanischen Meeres verbreitet.
