Typusfundort: gekauft auf dem Fischmarkt von Funchal, berichtet als "nördlich von Madeira" gefangen.
Etymologie
Das spezifische Epitheton lauta stammt vom Lateinischen lautus (= elegant).
Verbreitung
Lampris lauta ist von den Kanarischen Inseln, den Azoren und aus dem Mittelmeer bekannt.
