Typusfundort: Wogo River, Rungwa-Einzug, 26 Kilometer südwestlich von Inyonga auf dem Weg zum Rukwa-See, Region Tabora, Tansania, 6°51'S, 32°01'E (Karte).
Etymologie
Von central (= zentral), bezogen auf sein Vorkommen in Zentralafrika (Tansania und Uganda). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Tansania: Rukwasee, Malagarasi und Becken des Victoriasees; Ruanda: mittleres Akagera-System; Burundi und Uganda: Malagarasi-System.
IUCN Status
LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet) Mögliche Gefahren für diese Art: Für diese Art sind keine spezifischen Bedrohungen bekannt. Die Beanspruchung von Feuchtgebieten für die Landwirtschaft, Entwaldung, Erosion und Verschlammung, Bergbauaktivitäten und Verschmutzungen an Land könnte diese Art beeinträchtigen. Im Einzugsgebiet des Malagarazi-Flusses könnten Sedimentation und vermehrter Einsatz von Agrochemikalien (Pestiziden und Düngemitteln) infolge der landwirtschaftlichen Expansion und die Verschmutzung durch künftige Bergbautätigkeiten (Nickel, Gold) diese Art beeinträchtigen. |
