Typen
Holotypus: MBUCV V-17544.
Paratypen: ANSP 162160 (1), 162403 (1); MBUCV V-17543 (1); MCNG 25796 (1).
Typusfundort: Río Orinoco Stauwasser hinter einem Sandstrand ca. 0,5 Stunden stromaufwärts von Isla Temblador, 3°04'N, 66°28'W (Karte), Bundesstaat Amazonas, Venezuela.
Etymologie
Von dumus, lateinisch für Dornbusch, bezogen auf gut entwickelte Odontoden an Brustflossenstacheln und Schnauze. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Orinoco-Einzugsgebiet: Venezuela und Kolumbien, vor allem weiter stromabwärts, entlang des Orinoco-Hauptkanals bis kurz hinter den Stromschnellen von Atures.
