Etymologie
Ortho- (= gerade); grammus (= Linie), bezieht sich auf die "fast gerade" (im Gegensatz zur gebogenen) Seitenlinie. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indo-Pazifik: Ostafrika, Mosambik-Kanal, Seychellen und Réunion (Maskarenen), östlich bis zu den Hawaii-Inseln und den Revillagigedo-Inseln (Mexiko), nördlich bis zum südlichen Japanischen Meer, südlich bis Neukaledonien und Lord Howe Island.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 31.1.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es sind keine größeren Bedrohungen für diese Art bekannt. Obwohl sie von der kommerziellen und handwerklichen Fischerei befischt wird, wurde bisher kein Rückgang der Populationen infolge dieser Ausbeutung beobachtet oder vermutet.
