Etymologie

Benannt zu Ehren von Nikita Ivanovich Kashkin, der in den 1960er bis 1980er Jahren an zahlreichen Expeditionen auf Schiffen des Acoustics Institute of Oceanography teilnahm, maßgeblich zur ökologischen Untersuchung mesopelagischer Arten beitrug und Exemplare dieser Art sammelte.
