Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Johann Natterer (1787-1843), der Südamerika erforschte und 18 Jahre lang Exemplare sammelte, darunter auch die Typusexemplare dieser Art. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Amazonas- und Orinoko-Einzugsgebiete: Brasilien, Kolumbien, Bolivien und Venezuela.
