Etymologie
Stenos (= schmal); soma (= Körper), vorgeschlagen als Unterart von Icelus uncinalis mit einem dünneren, länglicheren Körper. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Nordwestlicher Pazifik: Japanisches Meer, Küsten von Japan, Korea und Russland.
