Typusfundort: Australien, Westaustralien, Region Kimberley, Garimbu Creek etwa 2 km flussaufwärts des großen Wasserfalls in der Nähe des Zusammenflusses mit dem Roe River, Einzugsgebiet des Roe River, 15°20'30.01"S, 125°33'22.88"E (Karte).
Etymologie
Maranda ist das Wort in der Ngarinyin-Sprache für das Wassereinzugsgebiet, in dem die Art vorkommt.
Verbreitung
Australien (Westaustralien): Eine endemische Art aus dem Kimberley-Gebiet, die nur vom Garimbu Creek bekannt ist, einem großen Nebenfluss des Roe River, der vom Kimberley Plateau nach Norden entwässert.
