Typusfundort: Two Peoples Bay-Schlucht, Westaustralien, 35°17'S, 118°05'E (Karte), 76 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Griseo (= grau); fasciata (= Band), spiegelt den einzigartigen volkstümlichen Namen wider, der von Anglern in Westaustralien am häufigsten für diese Art verwendet wird: "greyband" (graues Band), in Anlehnung an die graue Farbe der hellen Bänder.
Verbreitung
Kontinentalschelf von Westaustralien mit einem kontinuierlichen Verbreitungsgebiet vorwiegend von Barrow Island (20°52'S, 115°00'E) im Nordwesten Australiens bis Two Peoples Bay (35°17'S, 118°05'E) vor der Südküste Westaustraliens.
